Evaluation Office is a partnership with two closely connected fields of business: Evaluation & Policy Consulting, and Translation & Editing of academic texts. The firm was founded in 2013 by Dr Carolin Caliendo and Prof. Dr Marco Caliendo under its full name “Evaluation Office Caliendo und Partner, Wirtschaftswissenschaftler und Übersetzer”. Marco is responsible for evaluation and policy consulting, Carolin for translation and editing.
We deliberately keep our organisation lean and owner-managed: clients are looked after directly by the partners, and for large projects we bring in specialised partners as needed. In this way we have supported and advised ministries, commissions and international institutions for more than a decade, and we provide translations for clients from a wide range of fields. More recently, we have also been advising young companies that want to base their decisions on data.

Prof. Dr. Marco Caliendo
Founder & Managing Partner, Evaluation & Policy Consulting
Marco Caliendo is Professor of Empirical Economics at the University of Potsdam and Speaker of its Center for Economic Policy Analysis (CEPA). From 2009 to 2011 he was Director of Research at the Institute of Labor Economics (IZA) in Bonn. He studied economics at the University of Manchester and at Goethe University Frankfurt, where he received his doctorate in 2005.
A recognised expert in microeconometric evaluation methods, he has published more than 70 articles in leading academic journals, including the Review of Economics and Statistics, European Economic Review, Journal of Public Economics, Journal of Human Resources and Journal of Applied Econometrics. His research ranges from the effectiveness of labour market policies, through entrepreneurial behaviour and further training, to the links between work and health. A recurring theme is the question of what keeps people out of employment and why programmes work for some and not for others.

Dr. Carolin Caliendo
Founder & Managing Partner, Translation & Editing
Carolin Caliendo studied English and German at Goethe University Frankfurt and at the University of Birmingham. After completing her Master’s degree, she took the postgraduate programme in Book and Media Practice at Goethe University Frankfurt. For her doctorate on a topic in book studies, she spent an extended research period in London. Already during her studies she engaged with questions of literary and academic translation and gained her first professional experience in the field.
After her doctorate she founded her own translation office and has since worked for clients from a wide variety of disciplines. She translates both academic and literary texts. As a philologist with a doctorate, she translates specialist texts carefully from English into German (and, on request, from German into English) and edits academic work.
